How to Pronounce Windy

How to improve English pronunciation: In this episode of Word of the Week, I will go over the pronunciation of windy. Depending on the context, there are two ways to pronounce windy. One way is in reference to the wind. Another is a way to describe a long curvy course.

This video will help you learn the distinction between both versions and how to pronounce them. Yes! The pronunciation of English vowels can be a challenge. You will learn what are the sounds in each syllable and how to use windy in a sentence.

Not only is knowing how to pronounce English words correctly empowering, but it also means your listeners understand you first time and they can focus on your messages and not on understanding your words. Accent reduction is not necessary, but clarity of your speech is.

Hi, my name's Melanie Hussell and today's word of the week is windy or is it windy? Very confusing. Yes. It's an adjective which has the same spelling, but it's pronounced two different ways, depending on the context. This is important for socializing vocabulary and is often confused. Let's start with windy.

It's too windy today for my umbrella. Win-dy. Two syllables first syllable, (w) wa, i short vowel. Second syllable, (d) de, ee, dee, windy stress on the first syllable. Now let’s have a look at this second pronunciation of this word? Windy, the windy road up the mountain made me feel sick. Let's have a look at this word.

Windy. Two syllables. (w) Wa, (i) eye, long vowel, second syllable, (d) de, ee, long vowel windy. Two long vowels.

This brings me to the end of my word of the week series. Thanks for watching. And I really hope that you've enjoyed every single video and that you've learned lots to keep up to date with my latest communication tips. Don't forget to subscribe.
